Lilium speciosum var. gloriosoides, “red” mainland form

15.00

(Ex H. Zebrowski, ex… somewhere on the southeast coast of mainland China)

An incredibly beautiful lily, if a bit of a challenge to grow in Scandinavia. Flowers in very late autumn, with tall stems and stunning white flowers marked orange red. Seems to prefer acidic, well-drained soils and a dryish winter rest; back when I grew it in the open in Norway it rarely managed to flower before the first frosts, but those in pots did really well and seemed to enjoy a frost free and dry winter rest like you would Dahlias.

This should be the red form, offered for sale in China some years back as wild collected bulbs, but I don’t know exactly where they originated – and they haven’t been offered since.

8+ seeds per package. Scarce! Collected 2025.
