Description
(ex. S. Garvie, ex. Yunnan)
The species Lilium primulinum is a bit of a mess, but this looks like the typical var. burmanicum growing in the W and NW of Yunnan along the border of Burma and Laos. Should be hardy to -10C or so, if kept fairly dry in winter.
Both this particular complex (L. majoense, nepalense, polianei included), the mess that’s L. amoenum/bakerianum/sempervivoideum, and the Lilium apertum/Nomocharis aperta complex are good examples of how hard it is to draw the lines between plant species – and I’ve admittedly ended up with the “lumpers”.
